Bribery

There's no shame in my game.
We had a pinching/ pushing 2 year old at school.
Momma bribed him with candy...
didn't work.

Momma upped her offer to candy and small toy.
BINGO.
For now we have a nice/ hugging boy at school.
Whatever it takes.

Massage Fail

For mothers day Tim was winning.
He got my mom and I a spa day.
Massage, manicure, pedicure, the whole shabam.
I decided to tuck it away until I was no longer pregnant,
a massage better enjoyed when I was not with child.

Today was our appointment and ironically I was with child.
Hudson was along for the ride.
He sat though a pedicure a few weeks ago so maybe he'd be okay.
He is a superstar baby after all.

Massages were first.
A young lad (how old do I sound) took me back.
I apologized for having to bring the baby but assured him he would be no trouble.
Massage started, Hudson wide awake.
Trying my best to ignore his baby coos & little cries.
Little cries turn to medium cries.
"Would you mind just sticking that paci in his mouth?"

(This is where his tip goes from $20 to $40)
He continues to massage, at times with one hand,
as his other hand is holding a paci in.

Medium cries turn to big cries.
(This kid NEVER cries..why now, WHY now)
We try to move him in front of me.
Close enough to hold his baby hand and let him know I'm there.
Negative
Massage over (20 minutes in.)

It really was an amazing 20 minutes,
just wish it could have continued for another 40.

Life lesson #428:  Babies and massages don't mix.

On a more positive note, Hudson sat like a rockstar through the rest of the day.
Manicure, Pedicure....superstar baby!

Girlfriend

With my Etsy shop going strong
we have become quite familiar with the post office.
So much so, that Nolen has a girlfriend there.

She may be a 60 year old postal worker,
but a girlfriend non-the-less.

She's sweet with him, melts my mommy heart.
She'll stop her line of 100 customers when she spots him,
just to say hi.

A few weeks ago she told us that it was her last week,
she had been transferred to another post office :(

Fast forward to this week...

As we are walking into the post office Nolen yells
"Look, my girlfriends car!"
Into the post office we go and who is there...
his girlfriend (just filling in for the day.)

Boy were they both happy to see each other!

Pinching

Everyday Nolen excitedly asks, "I go school today?"
He likes loves school, he looks forward to it.
So why is it that the everyday when I pick him the teacher pulls me aside.
"I need to talk to you," she'll say.
 It's a bad feeling.
Like a "getting called into the principals office" feeling.

T:  Nolen has been pinching the other kids.

(heart sinking)

We leave that day and have a LONG talk.
We talk for the next few days about not hurting our friends.
We talk, and talk, and talk about how we DON'T pinch ANYONE.

Next school day comes...
Nolen gets a pep talk on the way to school.

M: Remember buddy, you're a nice boy, and nice boys don't hurt their friends.
N: No hurting my friends
M: If your teacher tells me you didn't pinch today you'll get a candy surprise!
N:  Oh boy, I no hurt friends today.

(fast forward 2.5 hours when I pick him up.)

M: How did we do today.
T: well he didn't pinch ANYONE
M: Oh that's great, I'll bribe him everyday if I need too!!!
T: but... we started pushing.

Sigh, one thing at a time.

For today we didn't pinch, and that is good!

Oh baby...

My heart may explode.

Go Noles

Love this time of year, fall & football.
Going back to Tallahassee always reminds me of 2 things:
1. I'm getting old
2. Football is a lot more fun intoxicated, minus 2 kids.

(...and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I'll take sweet, 6 am, baby smiles over a hangover any day!)

We all had fun and even made it to the game for 15 minutes!
Hudson's first game and Nolens third.
See you again next year Seminoles!

Amelia Island

A few weeks ago we packed up and headed to see Papa & JoJo at the beach.
Hudson's first time there, and a great get-a-way for all.
Nolen was a little fish, loving every minute of being at the beach.
Hudson got cozy on a beach chair and slept in the sun.

It's hard to imagine that just 4 years ago
we were saying our I-Do's
 on the same beach,
minus 2 little people
who are now our WHOLE world.
